Making ready for battle.
Graith is an old Scots word meaning "to make ready for battle" — to prepare, to equip, to ensure readiness.
Graith was founded because the gap between what defence technology promises and what it delivers in contested environments is getting people killed.
I spent 16 years in the Australian Defence Force, including five years as an Intelligence Team Lead with the Special Air Service Regiment. I've operated in environments where C2 networks fail, where the common operating picture fragments, and where operators are expected to manage increasingly complex autonomous systems under conditions that would overwhelm any interface designed in a peacetime office.
The systems I used were built by people who had never been in the environments those systems were supposed to work in. The interfaces didn't adapt. The networks didn't degrade gracefully. When things went wrong — and things always go wrong — the technology became part of the problem instead of part of the solution.
Graith exists to fix that. We build defence systems designed from operational reality outward — not from a requirements document inward. We start with the human. We build for the worst day. And we do it here, in Australia, because sovereign capability isn't a slogan. It's a strategic necessity.
